Austen, 8th grade, is our creative editor. The comics and cartoons are lead by her. She loves to travel and wants to live in a place like Redwood City, but without humid summers and has snow. She loves her family, and wants to live near her sister in future. If she could go back in time she would want to see the relatives she’ve never met. In her free time her likes to do tennis, pickleball and basketball. She loves to read “Shadow and Bone” and “The Hunger Games”. She joined this enrichment because she wanted to be apart of the behind the scenes of the yearbook and wanted to be in North Star’s first magazine.

Vivian, a 6th grader, loves to play Mii Topia and The Splatoons in her free time. In addition to that she enjoys playing volleyball and petting her dogs. Vivian also has many talents including knitting, crocheting, sewing, and cooking. When she is in the kitchen she enjoys making mud cakes but she wants to learn how to cook savory food too! Vivian wants to be a food nutritionist, a food historian, or a food scientist when she grows up. In addition to loving food she loves Costco pizza and Italian food. Her favorite Italian food is ravioli with pesto sauce and garlic bread. Another fact is that when at the mall she enjoys going to GameStop, and Barnes and Nobles. In general she likes going to Petco, Michaels, and Joann Fabrics.

She grew up in the depths of Amish Country, Northern Indiana, but moved to NYC at 17 where she majored in Computer Science at NYU while working for Knight Ridder. She followed the tech boom to Silicon Valley and worked as a product and project manager, and user interface designer. She loves volunteering and meeting new people.

Ashlyn, 4th Grade

Ben is an athletic person who loves to play basketball. His greatest achievement was getting into the AAU basketball team which is very elite and hard to get into, which is his current team. He loves playing basketball and if he's not doing that he's probably at his house playing video games and hanging with his Rabbit, Hufflepuff, and younger sister, Madeleine. Some of his other hobbies include golf, tennis and other sports. Although he currently does not speak any languages he hopes to someday learn to speak Japanese. He would like to travel to Dubai because it is a big city with beautiful views. When he grows up he wants to be a basketball coach because he loves basketball and is a great leader and also wants to be able to get exercise and have fun during his job. Some of his hobbies include basketball, playing video games, golf, tennis, and drawing. He is a very athletic person who loves sports and also tries to be kind and make new friends along the way.

Dia is a 4th grader who describes herself as "crazy" and loves to have fun, often goofing off with friends. With a natural talent for drawing, art is her favorite subject—closely followed by math. Colored pencils are her go-to medium for creating vibrant illustrations. Dia and her friends are budding entrepreneurs, always storming with new ideas. Their latest venture, Glow Pets, aims to offer pet-sitting services. Occasionally, they also sell treats like lemonade and cookies. Although she doesn’t currently have pets, Dia once had three fish. Outside of school, Dia is a dedicated swimmer, taking lessons every week and ramping up her practice during the summer. Her favorite treat is boba, especially from Happy Lemon, where she also savors bubble waffles. Her top pick? Jasmine milk green tea with tapioca pearls. Yum! She loves the color blue and dreams of transforming her room with shades of it to match her favorite hue.

Emma, a 5th grader, is an outgoing spirit who likes to cook and make fun treats for her family. Her favorite dish to whip up is pasta with red sauce and sometimes chopped tomatoes and olives. When she’s not in the kitchen stuffing tomatoes with tuna and rice, she feels happiest when she's with her dog Iris, either playing fetch or cuddling on the couch. When she’s not in the kitchen or with Iris she’s in a San Carlos United jersey blocking shots as goalie or running down the field trying to score a goal as striker. Emma loves to spend quality time with her team and feels it’s important to have a good team bond. Emma is attracted to soccer because the game never stops and she thinks it super cool that some people have the talent they have. Emma also has two cheerleaders on the sideline: her brothers. She likes spending quality time with them by playing soccer in the backyard and jumping on the trampoline. Overall, Emma loves spending time with people who are close to her, putting it all out on the field and being creative in the kitchen.

Jorge is an 8th grader who has remained unwavering when it comes to his passion for soccer. Even at a young age, Jorge has always had a life-long dream of becoming a professional soccer player. Jorge spends most of his free time playing and getting better at soccer so that he will fulfill his lifelong dream. Jorge has a bunny named Blanquito and 2 sister’s named Genesis and Aida. Genesis is a fellow student at North Star in 5th grade and Aida is a high school student at Summit. Jorge overall is a determined and friendly individual who will continue to shoot for the stars.

Naomi is a 5th grader and a reading enthusiast that loves playing with her pet snake, Clover. She loves to read books quietly so she can escape reality without being bothered. She also finds interest in baking sweet treats and acting. She loves to read different books to find different worlds and explore them. In her free time she pretends to be in Broadway plays by acting out little performances like Romeo and Juliet or old west plays. Naomi is fluent in English but is learning Swedish and dreams to be an English teacher in sweden. Naomi also loves watching and admiring her amazing pet snake, Clover. Edie, 5th Grade

Sibel, a 5th grader, is very athletic and is outgoing. Her favorite types of foods are Greek and Mediterranean, and food she thinks tastes delicious are hummus and olives. Sibel plays soccer and lacrosse and thinks they are very fast moving and enjoys working together as a team with her teammates, when she's not on the field and running she loves to bake baked goods, pies are her favorite to bake for her friends and family! She also loves cuddling with her dog, Cooper, and hanging out with her friends at the mall, sports games and having sleepovers with them. Although it is not the same as hanging out with her friends, when she is at school she enjoys social studies because she enjoys learning about the past and having debates especially about the election, also science for exciting experiments and listening to different peoples opinions. Violet likes to end her days (full of stressful ELA) with conversations with her friends and playing with her dogs and tortoise. She trusts her friends and parents. She chose this enrichment because of how she enjoys yearbook layout and how she knows Cate’s mom is a fascinating teacher. She one day dreams to be a marine biologist, but in the meantime studies science and works hard in art. Violet, no matter what she does with her life, will continue to follow her passions of art, drawing, sculpting, and painting. Violet is all over the arts. Violet's carefree, unpredictable soul has big dreams of getting a kitten. When Violet is feeling down, she plays with her dog until her worries wash away.

Ashlyn, a 4th grader, is a smart, kind, responsible, and athletic person.She really likes to get exercise by swimming and some of her hobbies include reading, playing sports, piano, singing, and listening to music. The most important thing in her life is her family because she grew up with them and they take care and feed her. She loves her family like her sister, Austen, and her parents. Ashlyn’s biggest achievement in her life is when she won 2nd place in the water poster competition in 2nd grade. This felt great to her because she felt the feeling of getting an award and she also got a 5 dollar gift card to Baskin Robbins. Her favorite subject is P.E. because she gets to play sports at school even when it's not recess or lunch. Her favorite food to eat is pizza because of the amazing flavor and cheese. Emma, 5th Grade

Edie, a 5th grader, is a kind and thoughtful friend who loves to go to the ocean and go for walks with her dog. When she’s not outside she is in her living room cuddling up with her dog while reading her favorite book, Mysterious Benedict Society. Edie loves playing soccer in her backyard. Talking about soccer, Edie plays on a competitive club called Albion. She has lots of teammates and loves hanging out with all of them. When she is not on the field or hanging out with her teammates Edie is in the kitchen cooking up her favorite food, pasta. She loves her pasta with tomato sauce and cheese. When Edie is not in the kitchen, on the field, or at the beach surfing, she is happiest when she is in her living room cuddling up with her dog while reading her favorite book, Mysterious Benedict Society. When she is not in the living room she is playing fetch with her dog Enzo who is a gold, brown mix of lots of dogs. All in all, Edie is energetic and spreads happiness wherever she goes.

Jasmine LOVES pancakes almost as much as she loves having FUN! One of the best ways she has fun is by playing volleyball. She plays for North Star on a team. Lexi, a 6th grader, is a competitive, funny, kind, silly, and brave spirt who loves to do gymnastics and express herself through her skills. Her favorite skill is flipping and also loves to learn new ones. She competes in all four events and hopes to always win. She loves to spend time with her teammates and loves hanging out with them. When she is not doing work, she likes to go to other schools sports games or go to the movies. If she is not getting a first place medal for bars in gymnastics, then she is in her kitchen at home baking cookies and cakes. Nidhi, a 6th grader, has a funny, shy, kind spirit. She likes to do math and extra curriculars in her free time. Whether she’s doing math, or playing with her friends, she enjoys most when she is running down the soccer field about to score a goal. Her favorite color is mint green, and she enjoys using small brushes to paint, making sure she gets all the details possible in her painting. Oftentimes when she writes notes, she prefers to use highlighters to make it as organized as possible. When she’s not creating something new, she will often be at the animal shelter. She enjoys hanging out with animals and making them happy. Because she does not have her own pet, the animal shelter is where she will be most times. She loves to feed the animals treats and she likes to generally hang out with them. Nidhi loves to be creative. Xander is an energetic kid who is very talented. He takes his time to learn new things such as tricks. He has a pet named Phoebe—it's an australian labradoodle—and loves playing Twister. When he isn't busy he is probably playing soccer as he has 4 practices per week and 3 games per week. But when he is having fun with his friends he likes to play Twister with his friends.
