Stars that Burn are Still Bright
Sumedha, 8th Grade
Burning Stars are the Last to Burn
She gazed, lonely as a loon
Her green eyes flickered at the light of the moon
Her jet black hair so pristine it shines
Such much so that it is like these poem lines
Her loneliness vanishes in the presence that burns
Burns so bright she wonders in turn
‘Who are you?” she asks, curiously so
‘Oh why I am the star that shines, your one who glows’
Her forest eyes, now wide as lagoons
Make her question up towards noon
The Star laughs and laughs till hearts combine
As the burning sensation fills her eyes
Goodbye! Farewell! The star wishes
The girl promises upon no misses
As the star flies west
Right to her chest, the soul that burns within her, still bright.
