My Memorable Class Trip

Victoria

8th Grade

(April 2025)

Our class trip to Washington, D.C. was an unforgettable experience filled with history, powerful stories, and meaningful moments. We began at the Spy Museum, which was interactive and full of fascinating exhibits. Arlington Cemetery gave us the chance to witness the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier Ceremony, a moving and respectful tradition. Ford’s Theatre helped us learn more about Abraham Lincoln’s life and assassination.

During a night tour, we admired the National Archives and monuments under a beautiful sunset. The Capitol was cold but interesting, and the African American Museum’s music and sports floors were packed with powerful stories. One meaningful moment came while speaking with a Vietnam War veteran from the Bay Area, who shared stories of his three lost friends.

The Museum of the American Indian impressed me with its creative displays. Visiting George Washington’s home and tomb at Mount Vernon connected us to early American history. A spooky but fun Ghost & Graveyard Tour added something different.

One of my favorite stops was NPR, where we met several journalists, including Leila Fadel, and explored the Tiny Desk Concert area. Hearing pilot Marc Sasseville’s 9/11story at the Pentagon and visiting the Holocaust Museum were deep, emotional experiences.
