Enrichment

First Day

Zoe

7th Grade

I walk into Room 109 for the first time ever. I’m nervous, excited, and happy at the same time that I was placed into the enrichment that I wanted so much. For as long as I can remember, I’ve wanted to be a part of the NSA magazine/yearbook crew - and now I am! As I enter the classroom, I am greeted by Mrs. Vance and our enrichment volunteer organizer, Mrs. Landers.

“Hello class! Welcome, come on in. This is going to be a fast-paced trimester, and we are going to learn so much! Have a seat, and we’ll teach you about magazine features. Let’s have some fun!”, Mrs. Vance and Mrs. Landers say.

I find a seat towards the center back of the class, and take a look around. Mrs. Vance’s classroom is an array of decoration, motivation, and representation of North Star spirit.

I had never stepped into this classroom before, but I knew I would be very familiar with it quite soon. In front of me, Mrs. Landers was connecting her computer to the screen. Lights flashed on, and I saw a picture of a magazine and all its parts.

“So, class, can anyone name what each section of this magazine is? Well, when the magazine decor goes all the way into the edges of the magazine, we call it ‘bleed in the gutter!’”

The class chuckled, and I smiled around to the people around me. I recognized some, and became eager to meet others. I knew that this trimester was going to be a blast!
