A Week With Banana Slugs

Tide pools, beaches, redwoods, mushrooms and lots of BANANA SLUGS!

I remember when my teachers first told me that in 5th grade, we would be going to this truly memorable place for a week, a few hours drive away. I thought, looks like it’s another field trip I have to stay back for again. I had missed last year’s Gold Rush field trip because my parents didn’t want me to go. I was awarded with a week’s worth of assignments. I still asked my parents if I was allowed to and after much persuasion, they said yes. I was very excited and anxious at the same time. I loved to go and have my first overnight field trip but I was worried that I would forget to bring something. The following morning, I was transported to Outdoor Ed in a school bus. I was able to build lots of memories and friendships from this experience with people from the other schools, Sandpiper and Garfield. Overall, I am very glad that I am able to bring home such a story.
