A Glittery Night

Lexi

6th Grade

(Halloween Dance, October 2024)

I hop out of my car with my friends and cross the street and enter North Star’s Campus. I immediately hear music halfway across the campus. I wait in line to enter the spooky gym. I  check in with the front desk, take a quick photo, then I enter the room. I hear music so loud, it is almost like there is no music! I rush to find my friends through the large crowd. Everybody is dancing and singing. I can hardly hear myself think.

“ Helloooo, this place is awesome!” I shout to my friends when I finally spot them. The gym has transformed into some magical place with lights, glitter and decorations, and I hardly notice that it's the gym at all! After an hour of dancing and screaming our lungs out until there is nothing left, my friends motion me toward the door, where there is a little space outside to actually talk.

“ Wow, this party is so loud, I don’t think it will ever stop!” I exclaim. Nidhi, one of my friends, vigorously nods her head in agreement.

“ This party is so loud, but fun!” Nidhi says. We all count to three, then, we prepare ourselves for the loud noises, and then we go back into the gym. After 3 whole hours of screaming our hearts out, talking to our friends, and most importantly dancing, the DJ announces the dance has come to an end. My friend group and I were all amazed at how fast it went by, but we were all so tired.

We exit through the yellow back door by the middle of the gym. As I exit through the doors I think about the great night we had. I spot my dad in his car and I immediately run to his car. I hop in his car, thinking about the wonderful experience from the dance I just had. I close my eyes in his car, pondering when the next dance will be.
